![]() Oren Dunn Museum We boast an eclectic representation of our region’s history, which includes pre-history fossils, our early settlement, the pictorial exhibit of the Tupelo Tornado of 1936, and a scaled model railroad of 1940’s era Tupelo. Our outside village is a medley of Tupelo historic collectibles: an original 1879 Dogtrot cabin, the Spark’s one- room chapel and one-room school, a functioning blacksmith shop, two 1940’s era fire trucks, a Frisco caboose, the Lee County Bookmobile, and of course, our famous Memphis streetcar turned into “Dudie’s Diner. Tupelo Symphony Orchestra Tupelo is one of the few small U.S. cities that enjoys a professional Orchestra. The season runs from September to April with concerts held at the Civic Auditorium. Special conductors and soloists join the Orchestra regularly. The symphony also holds a free outdoor concert at Tupelo's Ballard Park around July 4th that yearly draws thousands of fans. The Tupelo Automobile Museum Classics such as Packards, Cadillacs, Dusenbergs, a Tucker, plus other American and foreign makes and models are featured. One of a kind vehicles and celebrity vehicles, including one purchased by Elvis Presley, are featured, along with more recent favorites such as a ’57 Chevy, 300 Chrylser convertible, Jaguar XK140, Corvettes and Mustangs. The selection of cars on display rotates regularly. Elvis Presley Lake & Campground The Elvis Presley Lake and Campground is a scenic park named in honor of the city's most famous son. Located five miles north of the Elvis Presley Birthplace, the 850-acre facility is popular with campers, boaters, water skiers and fishermen Bancorpsouth Arena Built in the heart of the Mid-South, our $16 million facility is designed to accommodate events that demand comfort, convenience and flexibility. The BancorpSouth Arena consistently hosts the largest meetings and best performers by offering the highest quality facilities and services. From our spectacular Grand Opening on October 9, 1993 hosted by Bill Cosby to the present, the BancorpSouth Arena continues to be a favorite stop among artists. Mississippi Mud Cats Football Football anyone! Joins the thousands of fans for exciting football fun each season. The Mississippi Mud Cats are part of the Indoor Arena Football League. The games are played at the BancorpSouth Arena. The Lyric Theatre North Broadway Street is home to the award winning Tupelo Community Theatre. Originally a live production theatre, the Lyric has been restored and remodeled to provide Tupelo with one of the finest live theatre facilities in Mississippi. The Gumtree Museum of Art Located downtown and noted for its impressive revolving exhibits, the gallery is housed in the historic Peoples Bank and Trust Company building which was built in 1905 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places. HealthWorks An interactive health education center for children of all ages. Play and learn on the funtastic exhibit floor or become a neuron as you participate in the brain theater program.
